How to prepare for your newborn session

DETAILS
Newborn sessions are tailored specifically for you are your little one. These sessions are held in your home and usually take 1-2 hours depending on how settled bub is.

BOOKING A DATE
I generally suggest booking newborn sessions within the first two weeks, while the baby is more settled and sleeping often. We can pop a shoot date on hold and move the date quite easily if you have bub sooner or later. Alternatively you may wish until about 3 months and capture you bubbas little body rolls and maybe sneak in a smile. This is also a beautiful time for newborn sessions. I generally suggest a 10am session time, but if you find there is more natural light in your home at another time of the day, please let me know.

WAYS TO PREP
Usually I will shoot in a room with the most amount of natural light, that may be a living room or bedroom. These photos will include portraits of your little one, but also family photos with you. I suggest wearing something that is smart but casual and comfortable - consider linen, a flowy dress or earthy colours. Avoid red or bright colours. If you have any beautiful fabrics, blankets, swaddles or baby clothes, have these ready and popped aside as options, however I will bring a few props on the day. Some other suggestions to help keep bub relaxed can be keeping the room as warm as possible, a feed before I arrive and coordinating the shoot with nap time. If your bub has dry skin you can also put some cream on those areas before the session and reapply throughout the session to reduce the appearance of flaky skin.

DELIVERY
You will be sent an online gallery within 4 weeks of your shoot which you can share with friends and family. Additionally to this, I will also post you a USB with all the retouched images from your newborn session. Options are available if you wish to have any images printed.
