12-18 months before wedding

  • Set a budget & determine size of guest list

  • Book venue & date

  • Create a Pinterest board (consider the vibe of the day!)

  • Hire a planning (if desired)

  • Begin compiling a guest list

  • Book your photographer + videographer (if desired)

8-12 months before wedding

  • Finalise guest list

  • Engagement session (if desired - these images could be used on save the dates or invites!)

  • Share save the dates

  • Book accomodation (if needed)

  • Book your remaining vendors including celebrant, florist/stylist, Dj/Band, content creator (if desired), MC (if not going to be a guest), HMU

  • Book transportation

  • Start planning honeymoon

  • Choose and purchase wedding rings

  • Register for wedding gifts or organise a wishing well box

  • Decide on wedding party (if desired)

  • Buy a wedding dress

  • Make a wet/hot weather plan for your wedding day with your venue and wedding planner

4-8 months before wedding

  • Choose and order wedding party attire

  • Organise wedding invites & send

  • Wedding cake organised

  • Organise your wedding day timeline

  • Organise your ceremony details with your celebrant (consider any readings etc.)

  • Arrange for any necessary rental equipment, such as tables, chairs, linens, umbrellas, extra lighting etc.

  • Learn a first dance (if you want!)

  • Wedding attire organised for your partner

  • Consider how to personalise aspects of your day or unique styling aspects that represent who you are

  • Organise hair & makeup trial

2-4 months before wedding

  • Wedding attire organised for wedding party

  • Make music playlists for different parts of the day (getting ready, dance floor etc.) and decide on songs for key moments (entrances, end of ceremony, first dance, etc.)

  • Finalise menu

  • Finalise guest numbers & RSVPs - confirm this with catering and venue.

  • Organise seating chart

  • Organise place cards, menu, welcome signs, seating charts, table numbers etc + any gifts for guests

  • Organise gifts for wedding party & parents

  •  Obtain marriage license

  • Make and share wedding day timeline with vendors, party, and family

  • Organise guest book (audio guests books are a great idea!)

  • Decide on wedding fragrance & purchase shoes + veil & accessories. Consider a pair of comfortable shoes for the reception.

  • Delegate jobs to people to help out with certain aspects on the day (e.g. someone to help pull together family for family photos, someone to hand out petals when signing during ceremony, to be thrown when exiting).

1 month before wedding

  • Finalise all details with vendors

  • Write vows

  • Family photo list shared with your photographer

  • Organise clear umbrellas for yourself & wedding party

  • Organise a bathroom kit (especially for the gals!) with pads, tampons, bobbie pins, mints, safety pins, sewing kit etc.

1-2 weeks before wedding

  • Confirm any uncertain final details with all vendors

  • Pack for honeymoon

  • Pick up wedding attire

  • Arrange for any final payments to vendors

  • Have a final meeting with your wedding planner & venue

  • Provide vendors and guests with an alternate number for the wedding day
