NOT TOO LONG NOW…!

1. What time should my photographer start?

I generally suggest 1.5 hours at bridal prep and 1 hour with groom prep. Once I arrive for bridal prep, I would suggest majority of the bridal party (including the bride) has makeup and hair done, so we can soak in as much time as possible for some cute snaps and then start getting dressed. I sometimes find it easiest to work backwards from when you wish to be leaving for the ceremony and recommend a start time based off that. If you are not having getting ready shots, generally I suggest start time to be 30mins before you walk down the aisle.

2. Will you be allowing for guests to take photos during the ceremony?

I love to capture the reactions of guests during the ceremony and I know this is quite hard when guests have phones in front of their faces. If you wish for no phones during the ceremony, it might be worth mentioning this to your celebrant/pastor beforehand so they can let guests know.

3. Would you like a group photo of all guests after the ceremony?

This photo is sometimes a little tricky to capture if you are expecting a large number of guests but I can make it work. If you wish for a group photo of all the guests after the ceremony, please let both myself and your celebrant know. The celebrant can let guests know in advance that this will be occurring after the ceremony. I generally capture this after you & your bridal party exit down the aisle and I then have all guests turn around. I’m quite short so it usually involves me jumping up on a chair.

4. What group/family photos would you like after the ceremony?

I suggest creating a list and making someone responsible on the day to gather those groups together. Maybe a family member or friend who is familiar with those people. This not only helps me, but also means that neither of you are running around grabbing people on the day.

5. How much time should I allocate for photos after the ceremony?

Allow yourself 15mins after the ceremony to mingle and greet guests and afterwards an additional 15-20mins for family photos. For bridal and couple photos I generally suggest allowing 1.5 hours. This allows 30mins to get photos with your bridal party and 1 hour to capture some beautiful couple portraits. Keep in mind that this does not include travel time.

6. What happens if it rains on my wedding day?

As much as we all dream about the perfect sunny day, a gloomy day isn’t so bad. Firstly, clouds actually work as a beautiful soft light diffusor (win!) and generally the cooler weather can also be better to avoid the groom sweating it up in a suit. I generally suggest organising some clear umbrellas in advance as a back up. Enough for the two of you and your bridal party. These make for super cute photos and in moments where the rain might settle we can take these away. If you are planning an outdoor ceremony, have enough clear umbrellas for guests on the day so you don’t have big Bunnings umbrellas in your photos.

7. Would you recommend some photos at sunset?

YES, YES, YES! If you are not having bridal and portrait photos at sunset I would recommend popping 15mins on your run-sheet at the reception for me to sneak you outside and get some sunset snaps. 30-15mins before the sun sets is generally best. You will not regret it!

8. Any additional photo requests for your special day?

Whether it is a photo popping a champagne bottle or with a special grandparent, I want to make sure I capture all your special requests. Please do not hesitate to sing out with any specific requests and I will make sure I capture these for you. Some other fun ideas might be popping on some fun sunglasses, grabbing ice cream together or sneaking in to your favourite record store in your wedding dress. If you want to bounce around some fun ideas to make your snaps a little more unique, I am so down!
